Today, we have a post from @QuickOne_Two, who has written an article on A.C Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy, here it is:
El Shaarawy is an Italian footballer who currently plays for Serie A club AC Milan. El Shaarawy’s primary position is a centre forward but the Italian can also play on the left wing. This season, due to the arrival of Mario Balotelli, El Shaarawy has been playing on the left wing.
Stephan El Shaarawy, was born on 27 October 1992 in Savona, Italy. He began his football career with Genoa and became the fourth youngest player in Serie A history when he made his debut in December 2008 at the age of 16. In June 2010, El Shaarawy was loaned to Padova for the 2010-2011 Serie B season. While at his loan period he quickly established himself as a key player for the team helping the club reach the promotion play-offs finals in which they lost to Novara. Due to his outstanding performances, El Shaarawy was crowned Serie B player of the year 2011. AC Milan were quick to notice the young Italian talent and signed him on 25 June 2011 for a undisclosed fee which was believed to be around the £10 million mark. He made his debut 3 months later in a 3-1 defeat to Napoli. Three days after that match, El Shaarawy scored his first goal for the Rossoneri after coming on as a substitute for Pato and the game ended 1-1. On 25 July 2012, El Shaarawy signed a new five-year contract with Milan keeping him at the club until June 2017. This season, Shaarawy has really shone. With the departures of Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva and veteran players such as Nesta, Inzaghi and Seedorf, Milan were shot into disrepute. Eight games in, Milan were positioned in 15th place with only 7 points. Now, Milan are in 3rd place just below Napoli by 2 points. Although Balotelli has been stealing the headlines with his big money-move and his “7 goals in 6 games” the real revival of league form was started by El Shaarawy. His 14 league goals in the first part of the season completely changed the output of Milan league current place. His goals often come at crucial moments in matches
Style of Play
Since his breakthrough season, El Shaarawy is considered to be a young talent who has the potential of becoming a world class player. He primarily operates as a left winger but can also play as a central attacking midfielder or a centre forward. He is an accomplished dribbler of the ball which enables him to often cut inside. He has a solid first touch which allows him to create space and often play good passes to team-mates The winger is also known for his strong right foot in which he has scored some exquisite long shots. His playing style has drawn comparisons with Neymar and even Lionel Messi.
